Loy Everett Tipton, Jr., 86, of Moberly, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016, at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Mexico, MO.

Jr. was born on October 28, 1929, in Moulton, IA to the late Loy and Cecile (Higdon) Tipton. He was the eighth child of 12. He served his country in the United States Army and the United States Air Force, receiving an honorable discharge from both branches of service. He married Darlene Grogan on April 18, 1954, in Des Moines, IA, and resided in Moulton, IA until 1965, before moving to Moberly with their two daughters.

Prior to retirement in August of 1988 with 35 years of service, Jr. was a brakeman/conductor for Wabash, Norfolk, and Western and Norfolk and Southern Railroad.

Jr. enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, dancing, and playing cards. He was a member of and Baptized in the Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Moulton, IA. He was also a member of the American Legion, NARVRE, and a lifetime member of the Masons.

He was preceded in death by; his parents, wife Darlene in 2010, sisters, Fern Morrison, Pauline Bailey, Ruth Hedberg, and  Hazel Belloma, nine brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law.

Jr. is survived by his daughters, Sally Lynn Tipton Duffield and Husband David of Higbee, MO, and Myrna Loy Tipton Hyatt of Huntsville, MO, He was a proud “papa” of Lane Douglas Hyatt of Huntsville, MO, sisters, Helen Harrington of Unionville, IA, Lola Hinerman of Warrensberg, MO, Enid Moulton of Moulton, IA, Garnett Landtiser of Bloomfield, IA and Patricia Edwards of Moulton, IA, brothers, Rex Tipton of Moulton, IA and Max Tipton and his wife Kathy of Newton, IA, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
