Lowell H. Gass

1923 – 2014

Lowell H. Gass died December 22, 2014 at a local care center.  He was born June 10, 1923 at Kendrick in eastern Colorado, the youngest child of Otis Marion Gass and Linnie Henry.  He and his twin sister, Lois, were delivered by their grandmother, Eliza Henry.  By 1930, the family had moved to Idaho where he attended several of the local schools, graduating from Meridian High School in 1941.  

Son, Robert, was born in August of 1948 and daughter, Virginia, followed in April of 1951.  In 1955 he took a job at Boeing Company in Seattle, Washington.  They returned to Meridian in 1959, moving to Everett, Washington to again work for Boeing Company in 1969.    Upon their return to Meridian in the early 1970’s, Lowell worked for Wyeth Laboratories and then for Zamzow’s.  He retired in 1986 from Zamzow’s as the seed mill manager there.  

Lowell and Dolores took many trips and enjoyed their retirement a great deal.  Lowell was an avid gardener, fisherman and woodworker.  He built many beautiful pieces of furniture for friends and family, including a china hutch for Dolores.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dolores, brothers Wayne and Clay and sisters, Audra and Lucile.  He is survived by his twin sister, Lois Chase of Meridian, Idaho, his son, Robert “Bob” Gass of Eagle, Idaho, daughter, Virginia “Ginni” Hale of Meridian, Idaho, granddaughters Nicole Marria of Meridian, Idaho and Amy Hale Martin of Boise, Idaho, two great-grandsons, Brayden Marria and Corbin Martin and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
