Lowell Keith Chitwood, 88, of Spencer, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the Bloomington Hospital. Born, July 5, 1922 in Monroe County, he was the son of Joseph and Jessie (Richardson) Chitwood.
Keith was a Insurance Agent in the Bloomington area for 55 year. He served on the REMC Board and Benton Township Water Board for many years.
Keith was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and raising and working horses. He was a Church of Christ Lay Minister for several congregations in Indiana. He also enjoyed singing and was a member of Tonecutters Chorus and the Nightingales mixed chorus group.
Survivors include two sons, L. Dean Chitwood (Leila) of Cave Creek, AZ; Dan Chitwood (Susan) of Louisville, KY; one daughter, Denese Collier (Jim) of Spencer, nine grandchildren, Matt Chitwood (Anne), Susan Chitwood (Cliff), Stefanie Nasca (Matt), Cara Althaus (Ethan), Amanda Chitwood, Amy Ketcham (Damon), Jeff Langley, Casey Smith (Kyle) and Tyler Collier, eight great-grandchildren, Zane, Kayla, Allison, Ryan, Emma, Chloe, Jacob ,Reece , baby-girl Nasca,, one sister, Joyce Stamper of Louisville, KY. Keith was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mary E. (Galyan) Chitwood (2007), two sisters, Beulah Durnal and Thelma Fishel.
