Lovell Alderson Maddox, 99, of Chattanooga, died Friday, June 26, 2009 in an area health care facility. Mr. Maddox was born in Nashville, Tennessee on July 27, 1909 to Henry and Muzett Alderson Maddox. Mr. Maddox was a descendant of a pioneer family who served in the Revolutionary War and came to Davidson County, Tennessee in 1779. He graduated from Peabody Demonstration School and the Watkins Institute of Business. He was employed by the McCrory Company in Baltimore and Philadelphia and was manager of the store in Lakeland, Florida. He retired from Harvey Department Store in 1979. He was a veteran of WWII, serving 2 ½ years in Europe in the U.S. Army. Mr. Maddox was a 60 year member of of Post #5 of the American Legion serving on the executive committee.
