Lourdes Corotan (nee Castillo), affectionately known to many as Auntie Ludy, passed away peacefully Friday, September 22, 2017 in hospice care at JFK Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bagabag, Philippines, she emigrated to America in 1969. Lourdes first lived in Washington Heights, NYC and later moved with her family to Colonia, where she lived for 37 years.
Graduating valedictorian from Saint Jerome’s Academy, also in Bagabag, she went on to study Chemical Engineering at the Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila. She eventually worked as a Communications Technician for NY Bell and later AT&T until she retired in 2002.
She is best remembered for her sharp wit, tenacious character, and enviable leche flan recipe. She was a woman of abundant generosity and strong faith in God.
Lourdes is survived by her husband of 47 years Fred, eldest son John, and younger son Paul. She is also survived by her brother Jovito, and sisters Maria Lopez and Milagros Aparentado.
