Maxine Louise Wiedmer passed away peacefully with her children by her side July 1, 2015 in Louisville, Colorado. She was born in Meade County, Kansas on October 20, 1924, the fourth child of Alvia Marsh and Iva Belle (McNinch) Bunyard.
Louise attended school at the Missler School in Meade County until the family relocated to Coats, Kansas where she graduated from Coats High School in 1941. Since she graduated when she was only 16, her father would not let her attend nursing school as he said she was too young. On November 4, 1941, she married her high-school sweetheart, Clarence E. “Gene” Hammond. She worked at the dental office at the Army Air Base in Pratt, Kansas while Gene served during World War II. After the war, they lived in Coats Kansas and moved to Brighton Colorado in 1954.
