Louise (Petrosini) Bello, 97, of Toms River, and Howell New Jersey, returned to Our Lord on Friday, May 15, 2020, to join her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Joe; her parents Bridget and Nicholas Petrosini; sisters Anne and Mary, brothers Vincent, Nicholas, John, Orlando, and Fred.
Louise was born on Carrol Street in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, and lived for many years in Bay Ridge, and in East Flatbush in Brooklyn.
A beloved servant of Our Lord and of Mother Mary, Louise was a member of The Rosary Society at Mary Queen of a Heaven Parish, in Brooklyn, NY, where she resided for over 20 years; she was also an enthusiastic choir member at St. Maximilian Kolbe in Toms River. Louise devoted her time freely for charities and good causes, and was a volunteer for the American Heart Association fundraising drives and volunteered at the Board of Elections for many years. She was also an enthusiastic and tough “classroom mother” / substitute teacher for many years while her children were in attendance at Mary Queen of Heaven School in Brooklyn.
Louise was a spirited New York Mets fan and was in attendance at Shea Stadium in September 1969 when the Mets clinched the National League Eastern Division championship. She was an avid football fan and would spend her weekends watching professional and college football games. She was a devoted New York Giants fan and loved Notre Dame and Penn State. One of her favorite football chants was “get him, dammit (we never knew what number “dammit” was). She had a very strong affinity for Eli Manning, but an even stronger distaste for Tom Brady. Louise spent many hours cheering for her children at their sporting and other school events. She was also known for her Italian cooking and took pride in opening her home to the South Shore Vikings. Louise was an avid reader, loved watching old movies and enjoyed going to Atlantic City with her husband Joe and sister, Ann. A loving, kind, and dedicated mother, grandmother, and great grandmother,
Louise is survived by her son Joseph and his wife Connie; daughter Barbara Kane and husband Gerard; daughter Deborah Torres and husband Michael; and son Thomas and wife Korinne. She was blessed by many grandchildren: Toni Ann Bello DeRosa and husband Umberto; Joseph Bello and wife Jessica; grandson Gerard Kane, Jr. and wife Tiffany; and granddaughters Jessica Kane; Bridget Torres and her partner Chrisopher Fanikos, Jacqueline Marston Bello and her fiancé Ryan Williams , Laura Bello Evans and her husband Morgan, Bernadette Torres and Samantha Bello. She will be missed as well by her five great-grandchildren, Ben, Julia, Brianna, Bella, and Joseph.
