Louise D. Savoie, 102, of Jacksonville, IL, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, at Jacksonville Skilled Nursing & Rehab.
She was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Beardstown, the daughter of John F. and Caroline Schmies Dufelmeier. She married John M. Savoie on Mar. 9, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 2008.
She is survived by three daughters, Theresa Ann Savoie of Jacksonville, Virginia May Savoie (James) Braxler of Warrens, WI, and Mary Ellen Savoie (Jim) Robbins of Troutdale, OR; two grandchildren, John Joseph (Lindsay) Braxler of Belleville, WI, and Susan Braxler (Avery) Cox of Goose Lake, IA; five great grandchildren, Zebediah, Asa, Malakai, Joyanna, and Eragyn; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Mary Carolyn Savoie; five brothers and two sisters-in-law, Henry, Walter (Elaine), Alfred, Arthur (Janice), and Frederick (surviving wife Fran of Los Angeles, CA) Dufelmeier; and one nephew, Mark Dufelmeier.
Mrs. Savoie was a graduate of Beardstown High School, and then graduated from Our Saviour School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse, and had worked at Our Saviour Hospital, Norris Hospital, and Passavant Hospital. She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and was an avid sports fan.
