Overbrook native, Louise Butler, was born September 4, 1932 to the late Julian Ervin Denison and Nollie Jewel (Laningham) Denison at their rural Love county residence. 

At the end of her Junior year at Ardmore High School, Louise and Irby Eugene “Gene” Butler were married June 14, 1950 at Gainesville, Texas.  The parents of two sons, Ricky Lynn and Larry Gene, the family lived for a period in the 1950’s in California and during the 1960’s in Bethany, Oklahoma, before returning to Ardmore.

A longtime member of the Southwest Baptist Church, Louise had generously given of her time and assisted the Greater Southwest Historical Museum with their Genealogy Library.  Early in her life Louise enjoyed skating at the local roller rink and had clerked at the Duke & Ayers 5 & 10 in downtown Ardmore. Later she worked at Ardmore High School Snack Bar. She enjoyed gardening and spending time in her yard and was known for her “green thumb”. 

Following a time of failing health, Louise passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the local hospital in Ardmore, at the age of eighty six years, three months and five days.  In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Gene, January 18, 2003; and her brothers, Pete and Jay Denison. 

Louise is survived by a loving family that includes her two sons, Ricky Lynn Butler and his wife, Connie and Larry Gene Butler and his wife, Marsha; her grandchildren, Jesse Wade Butler and his wife, Julie, James Butler, Erick Butler and Annie Podkowsky and her husband, Neil; also her great-grandchildren, Lily, Miles, Paige and Connor; a brother, Charlie Denison and sisters, Wilma Parnell and her husband, Willie,  Laquita Salthouse and her husband, Bill; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
