Louise Batten was born January 15, 1945 to loving parents, Emanuel and Annie Mae Conyers in a small town located in South Carolina, where she spent her childhood and received her formal education.

The Batten family later moved to Clearwater, Florida, where she met James A. Batten of the United States Army. They were united in marriage in 1962. Their union was blessed with six loving children.

Louise, who was hard working, worked several jobs throughout her life’s journey, including Duro Paper Bag Company, where she retired in 1998 due to her health. Shortly afterwards, she moved to San Diego, California to be near her sons. Louise attended the local community colleges in Tampa and San Diego, where she majored in German. She not only spoke German fluently, she also embraced and learned to speak French.

Louise was a faithful witness of Jehovah God for over forty years. Her spiritual career started on July 26, 1986, where she symbolized her dedication to her heavenly Father. Throughout the course of her life, Louise proved true to her dedication to Jehovah by zealously preaching to many from door-to-door, street witnessing and other preaching activities. If you talked to or met Sister Batten, she never held back on telling you about the God she served, especially during the time she had the fine privilege of serving as a Regular Pioneer, volunteering over seventy hours a month preaching and teaching from 2005 to 2008 during the congregation meetings, you could always hear her warm encouragement to strengthen not her faith, but the faith of all her spiritual brothers and sisters.

Louise was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to many.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents and one grandson, Gabriel Batten.

On Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at 8:56 A.M., Louise Batten passed away at Grossmont Hospital, El Cajon, California with her family at her side. She is survived by her loving children, Yolanda, James, Eddie, Tony, Hershel and Joseph; four brothers, Gilbert, Leecell, Richard and Joseph; one sister, Patricia; over twenty-five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
