Louise Angela Esposito, 96, formerly of Clinton Ave. New Haven passed away peacefully in Old Saybrook on April 5, 2013. She was the widow of Francis F. Esposito. Mrs. Esposito was born in New Haven on March 11, 1917 a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary DeBiase DeTullio. Louise was the city sprint champion for Hillhouse in 1932 and played on the first women’s Valley Industrial basketball team to play by men’s rules. For many years she worked as a cosmetologist for Hamilton’s, Malley’s, and the Country Club Pharmacy. She is survived by her daughters, Adrienne (John) Onofrio and Mary Louise (Jon) Craine; a son, Francis T. Esposito; and sisters, Virginia DeMartino and Gloria Novicki. She was predeceased by her brothers Anthony, Joseph, William, and Americo DeTullio, her sisters Margaret “Peggy” DeTullio and Anna DeAngelo and a great grandchild. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and outstanding grandmother.
