Louis Vincent DiBello

1941-2017

Our beloved Louis Vincent DiBello passed away March 7, 2017, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.  Born August 20, 1941 in Washington, PA to the late Julia D’Alessandro and Vincent DiBello, Louis (Lou) attended Washington High School where he excelled in academics and music graduating in 1959 with honors, and leading the marching band as Drum Major.  After graduation, Lou attended Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, PA, graduating in 1963 with a BA in Mathematics and Physics; he then attended the University of Rochester, Rochester, NY graduating in 1969 with an MA and PhD in Mathematics.

Lou met Marie Earley (née Hook) at a dinner event in Champaign in November 1988, and it was love at first sight.  Lou proposed to Marie in December of 1988, just a month after their first meeting, on bended knee, at “The Point,” in Pittsburgh PA, a beautiful park at the confluence of the Monongahela and Allegheny Rivers where they join to form the Ohio River.  He felt “The Point” well represented his and Marie’s feelings, as they were truly kindred spirits.  They were married on May 27, 1989.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Vincent DiBello, Lou is survived by “his favorite sweetheart,” his wife Marie, of 28 years; children and grandchildren, son Louis DiBello, Jr. and wife Brooke and granddaughter Giulietta of Sidney, IL; son Christopher DiBello and wife Alyona and grandson Christopher Jr.
