Louis Mercogliano of Florence, died Monday March 11, 2013 at his residence at the age of 90. Mr. Mercogliano was born in South Ozone Park, Queens, NY on October 5, 1922 to the late Vincenzo and Theresa Mercogliano. He and his wife Jeanette were longtime residents of Long Island, NY before moving to Florence many years ago.

Louis was a Navy veteran of World War II and had worked for the Sperry Corp. in Lake Success, NY until his retirement. He was a parishioner of St. Paul R.C. Church in Burlington and was a member of the Young at Heart Club. He had at one time played baseball in the NY Yankees organization and remained a lifelong fan of the club. One of the highlights of his baseball career was playing with Phil Rizzuto. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband.

He is survived by his loving wife Jeanette (nee Ferrara), his brothers Vincent Mercogliano and Anthony Mercogliano and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
