Mr. Louis “Louie” F. Ladson, Jr., passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

Louis “Louie” F. Ladson, Jr. was born January 3, 1951, to Henry and Susan Ladson in Georgetown, SC. He graduated second in his class from Choppee High School in South Carolina and went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from St. Olaf College in Minnesota. Afterward, Louis enlisted in the United States Army where he was stationed in Honolulu, HI at Tripler Medical Center as a Pharmacy Technician. It was there he met the love of his life, Sharon Harris.

He worked long hours, was very ambitious and owned three pharmacies in Pinellas County.

As a soldier, Louie continued serving his country in the U. S. Army Reserve rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served in several positions including Pharmacy Officer, Information Officer and Mobility Officer. He was respected by his comrades and had a deep affection and appreciation for the soldiers who served with him to accomplish their missions. Louie loved living by MacDill Air Force Base taking advantage of the marina, beach, all facilities, and the gulf course. He recently joined the American Legion Post 138. Unfortunately, he was unable to enjoy the benefits as his illness became more debilitating.

Louie loved his wife Sharon from the moment their eyes met. They were blessed with two children, Tishia and Eric. He was a wonderful, loving father involved in all their interests and social activities, cheering them on when they played sports.  Louie loved his sports and loved watching his games! 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Susan Ladson; sister, Mary Ladson; and, brothers, Abie Ladson.

He leaves to cherish endearing memories, his loving wife of 44 years, Sharon Ladson; daughter, Tishia Ladson; son, Eric Ladson; five grandchildren, Aiyana J. Flagler, Isaiah Scriven, Tiyana Knight, Asia Cruz and Amariah Cruz; brothers-in-law, Carey Harris, Jr. of Boston, MA, and Paul Davis of Henderson, NC; sisters-in-law, Ethel Shepard of Boston, MA, and Darline Harris of Boston, MA/Los Angeles, CA;  seven sisters, Louise Jiles (James) and Daisy Walton, both of Georgetown, SC; Annie Synder, McClellanville, SC; Gladys Ladson, Charleston, SC; Carrie Ladson (James), Myrtle Beach, SC; Anna Holmes (Vereen), Georgetown, SC; and Dorothy McWhite, New York, NY; four brothers, Henry Ladson, and Jack Ladson (Annette), both of Georgetown, SC; Hollis Ladson (Edith) of Georgetown, SC and Kevin Ladson (Sandra) of Myrtle Beach, SC; the Mt. Zion A.M.E.
