Louis Iners Goddard, age 58, longtime resident of Newnan, GA and previously of Brooks, GA died on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital after a short yet courageous battle with cancer. He was born on March 18, 1953 one of three children to the late Iners Goddard & Ruby Phillips Goddard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Howard Spivey; and brother-in-law, Jeff Spivey. In 1972, at the age of 19, he began his career and calling in healthcare transportation services as an ambulance driver and then an EMT. He stayed in Coweta County with this career. He made many lifelong friends with his friendly demeanor and funny, playful humor. He married the love of his life, Nancy Spivey Goddard in 1975. Together they raised their son, Matt. He enjoyed traveling, vacationing on cruise ships, pheasant hunting in the mid-west, go-cart racing and NASCAR races and motorcycle riding. In 1997, he founded Goddard Trucking, Inc and currently owned and operated this family business that he was very proud of. His grandsons loved to take rides in “Pops’” big trucks. He will be remembered for his enthusiasm for life, his smile & hugs, and his desire to always better himself through his service to others. In addition to his wife he is survived by son, Matt Goddard & his wife Bernie; grandsons, Logan & Brody Goddard; mother-in-law, Helen Spivey; sister, Martha Cochran & her husband Mike; brother, Charles Goddard; brothers-in-law, Danny & Gary Spivey; nieces, Mandy Cochran Brown, Karen Goddard, Ashley Spivey; nephews, Mikey Cochran, Kevin Goddard, TJ & Tom Spivey; great-nephew, Ashton Brown; great-niece, Katelyn Spivey; and many members of extended family.
