Louis Gloria, Sr., age 71, of Orange passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born on July 26, 1944 in Milford to the late Anthony and Grace Marino Gloria, Sr. Before retiring, he was the dedicated owner of Gloria’s Inc., which included the Garden Center and Farm Market for 55 years. In the early years he passionately played on his softball team, Gloria’s. Lou was the pitcher, bringing home many championship titles. He actively enjoyed tennis and playing mixed doubles with his wife Margaret. He developed a passion for the sport and went on to coach his son throughout his career, while continuing to introduce and mentor his grandchildren in the sport. B, as he was affectionately known, rarely missed any event that his children and grandchildren participated in. From its humble beginnings as a fruit stand, Gloria’s became an iconic landmark in Milford, CT. This was accomplished by the extraordinary dedication of Lou, his brothers and parents who founded the business in 1949. Lou voluntarily retired from the business in 2001 to spend more time with his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by his loving high school sweetheart and wife of 52 years Margaret Coppola Gloria, children Louis Gloria, Jr and his wife Anna, daughter Stephanie Sullo and her husband Vincent all of Orange, grandchildren Chadd Sullo, Taylor Sullo, Brett Gloria and Ava Gloria. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers Anthony, Vincent and Joseph Gloria.
