Louis Aeschleman, 90, of Ottawa, died Sunday evening, June 26, 2011 at Pleasant View in Ottawa.

Louis was born July 4, 1920 in Roanoke to Eli and Minnie (Turk) Aeschleman. He went to Roanoke and Ottawa Elementary Schools and graduated from Ottawa Township High School. He worked as a meat cutter in Schotts Market before entering the service. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 in North Africa; Sicily, Italy; Corsica, France and Germany and was awarded five campaign stars. He married Shirley Breyer on May 21, 1950 in Ottawa. She died September 2, 1995. In 1951 he went to work for Midwest Landscape Company. After he retired, he worked at Jeans Feed & Seed (Later Brothers Country Store.) He was a member of American Legion Post 33 since 1945.

He is survived by one daughter, Carol (Tom) Halm of rural Ottawa; four grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel Jacob and Joseph Halm and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; two sisters, Myrtle Stevens and Violet Whitney; and one brother, Raphael Aeschleman.

Pallbearers will be Jacob and Joseph Halm, James Rowe, Clark Beatty and John and David Bankowski.
