Louis Douglass Pfeiffer “Doug” August 19, 1928 – October 1, 2015 Doug died peacefully at age 87 at his home in Catlett, VA surrounded by his beloved family. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Erma L. (Eckels) Pfeiffer, daughter Kathryn Pfeiffer Altobelli (Frank), of Elgin, TX, son Paul D. Pfeiffer (Deborah), of the home, 6 grandchildren and extended loving family of many nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews. He was born in Baltimore, MD to Joseph B. and Helen (Rehberger) Pfeiffer, the youngest of 3 children: sisters Frances Pfeiffer Miller and Margaret Pfeiffer Garman (deceased). He graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and cum laude from Loyola College, Baltimore, MD. Doug served in the Air Force during the Korean War (1952-55) rising to the rank of 1st. Lieutenant, and in the Air Force reserve until 1966. While in the Air Force he wrote the specifications for air to air refueling of aircraft and helped develop automatic targeting for gun turrets on the B29 Superfortress . After his honorable discharge, he was engaged in sales for Moore Business Forms and later, with Xerox Corp., as Federal Government Consultant, and received many awards for his excellence in work performance. In addition to his great joy in being with family and friends, he was an avid model Chesapeake Bay sailing craft shipbuilder, and enjoyed raising, breeding and riding quarter horses.
