Louis Audra Davis Jr. 69, Deming resident passed away Sunday November 6, 2016, at his home with his loving companion by his side.

Louis was born to Louis Audra Davis and Alice Sloan on July 18, 1947, in Sulphur, Oklahoma. The family moved in 1950 to Ponca City, Ok., where Louis attended school until 1964. He then moved to Tahlequah, Ok., where he graduated from high school in 1965. He then went to the University of New Hampshire and graduated in 1975 in AA Management. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force in July of 1965 until his retirement in August 1985 as a Master Sergeant. During his enlistment, he served as a Communications Center Technician, Nuclear Weapons Supervisor, and Flight Simulator Technician / Instructor / as well as Supervisor.

Louis served in many areas from 1965-66, Tinker AFB, Ok., 66-67 Peshawar AS, West Pakistan, 67-70 Ramstein AB, West Germany, 70-71 &75-79 Chanute AFB, Illinois, 71-72 Pope AFB, North Carolina, 72-73 Nakhon Phanom RTAFB, Thailand, 73 Tan Son Nhut AB, Viet Nam, 73-75 Pease AFB, New Hampshire, 79-83 Griffiss AFB, New York, 83-85 Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. Louis received many Military Medals including Meritorious Service Medal, ( 2) Air Force Commendation Medals, (3) Air Force Outstanding Unit Award one with Valor Device, Viet Nam Service Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, and Vietnamese Campaign.

After the service, he worked as a Burglar Alarm Installer from 1985-87, and as a Broadcast Operator, SD Public Broadcasting from 1987 on. He was a member of Mensa, Master of Mount Rushmore Lodge #220, Deadwood Consistory (32* Scottish Rite) and member of NAJA Temple Shrine.

Louis had many hobbies which included coin and stamp collecting, genealogy, playing guitar, woodworking, hunting, fishing, gardening and dancing and singing.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Audra Elaine, and Jenny Lynette Davis. He will be missed most by his special partner, Carol Sorheim and by his many friends.

He is preceded in death by parents Louis A. Davis and Alice Sloan Davis.
