Louceille (Hougas) Wise, 80, of Ottawa, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at home, surrounded by her family. Louceille was born on February 25, 1941 in Ottawa to Russell and Marguerite (Jacobsen) Hougas. She was a graduate of Serena High School, class of 1959. Louceille married John “Jack” William Wise on August 19, 1961 at the Community of Christ Church, in Marseilles.

She worked in the records department at the North Central Behavioral Health Systems for 20 years.Lou was a lifelong member of the Community of Christ Church in Marseilles, serving for many years as secretary/recorder and Sunday School teacher. She believed Community Service was important. Lou volunteered in her younger years at both Pleasant View and the Ottawa Pavilion. She was involved in Sons of Norway as well as a long-time secretary of the Slooper Society of America.

She served on the board of the Norsk Museum and the board for the LaSalle County Historical Society, where she also loved being an active part of the Aiken School Program.Family was also important to her, and a highlight of her life was a visit to the family farm in the country of Norway and visiting her relatives there. She loved her family heritage and delighted in both Rosemaling and baking kringla. Lou loved spending time with friends and family and keeping up with the many activities of her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; two children, Gregory Wise of Arvada, CO and Angela (Mark) Pokarney of Marseilles; four grandchildren, Haley Kay and Tyler John Wise of Aurora, CO, Kyle DeVries of Marseilles, and Ashley (Chris) Degner of Ottawa, IL; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald (Pat) Hougas of Tipton, IA and John (Ellen) Hougas of Utica, IL; and two sisters LaVerne (Dave) Arntzen of Serena, IL and Arlene (Don) Jackson of Sheridan, IL.She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Virgil Hougas; and a sister Margie (Hougas) Tuftie.Lou’s family would like to especially thank Lightways Hospice of Joliet, for their exceptional care and compassion.
