Lottie Novak died peacefully on August 18, 2021 after a year-long illness.

She was born in Poland and emigrated to the United States with her mother and brother after the conclusion of World War II. Her childhood in Poland was interrupted by the Soviet invasion when she, her parents and bother Edward were sent to labor camps in Siberia.

Lottie’s family relocated to northern New Jersey where she married Alexander Novak in November 1947. She had two daughters, Barbara and Patricia, and studied to become a hairdresser. After many years working in other salons, she opened her own successful beauty salon.

In addition to her hair styling skills, Lottie was an accomplished seamstress. She excelled at needlepoint and enjoyed the arts. Florida became her second home 20 years ago.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Prine and Patricia Novak, and her brother Edward Zalewski, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
