Lorretta Alberta Summerour (Bert) was born on April 5th 1929 to James Edward Martin and Susie Mary Martin and passed away peacefully in her Rockville home on October 5, 2015. Bert attended Montgomery County Public Schools and went on to graduate from nursing school.
On March 7, 1957 she married the love of her life James Purvis Summerour. Purvis and Bert loved hanging out with their friends and family at parties and local functions. The two were often seen on the dance floor showing off their new moves. When Bert wasn’t on the dance floor she was showing off her moves on the softball field where she was an outstanding player for her powerhouse team: THE HEARTBREAKERS.
Bert and her teammates were featured on numerous occasion in the local newspaper and often left their opponents heartbroken.
Bert is survived by three children Carolyn, Gladys “Sis”, James Jr. “Jay”; one sister, Valeria; son-in-law, Leroy Budd; daughter-in-law, Paula Summerour; four grandchildren, Tracy, Justin, Danielle, and Amber; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Nadia, and Jason; and a host of other relatives and friends.
