Lorraine Wertheim, 94, of Jacksonville, IL died Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville.
She was born November 4, 1921 in Tampa, FL, the daughter of Hyman and Jenny Selz Wertheim. She was preceded in death by her sister, Julianne W. Clements, in 1999.
She is survived by three nieces, Carol Clements of Thousand Oaks, CA, Lauren Gonzalez (husband, Frank) of Northridge, CA, and Kathy “Kate” Grensing (husband, Art) of Deerfield, WI and their children, Brandie and Austin Warr of Thousand Oaks, CA, Myles and Wyatt Gonzalez of Northridge, CA, and Zane Grensing of Deerfield, WI.
Miss Wertheim attended public schools and was a graduate of the Florida School for the Deaf. After graduation, she went into advertising. She was a member of the Congregation Shaaral Zedek in Tampa, FL.
She moved to Jacksonville in November of 1993 to be closer to her sister, Julianne Clements. She was a member of the Jacksonville Community Center for the Deaf and the Jacksonville Community Senior Deaf. She formerly attended Faith Lutheran Church.
Lorraine enjoyed the visits, letters, cards and pictures from her nieces and families, as well as from her friends in Tampa. She was an avid reader and enjoyed captioned shows on TV.
