Lorraine Mae (Reno) Baumgardner 86, of Nampa passed away Aug. 30, 2009 at a local hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Lorraine was born May 10, 1923 to Charles and Della Reno at Snyder, CO. Lorraine started grade school in Snyder, then the family moved to Adrian, OR in 1939. She graduated from Big Bend Grade School in 1940. Lorraine started high school in Adrian before moving to Weimer, CA where she trained as a nurse’s aide and was employed at the tuberculosis sanitarium. She returned to Adrian in 1943 where she worked as a housekeeper and caregiver for two families in Big Bend.
Tom and Lorraine were divorced and she moved to Parma. Lorraine married Frank Simmons and moved to Boise. After Frank passed away, she married Dale Baumgardner and later moved to Nampa where she had since resided.
Lorraine is survived by her son, Tommy Helderman of Caldwell; daughter, Darlene (J. E.) Newman of Caldwell; son-in-law, Randy Lee of Idaho City; 2 sisters, Alberta (Dave) Martin of Bruneau and Roberta Smith of Homedale; 6 grandchildren, Loren (Alexis) Helderman, Tamara (Steve) Grosso, Tonya Daniels, Kimberly (Joe) Don Dero, Jeremiah Newman and Rachel (Matt) Elliott; 13 great-grandchildren, Emma, Harvey and Hannah Helderman, Tanner Wilde, Isabella and Olivia Grosso, Steven, Christopher and Caitlin Daniels, Shon Mongold, Kyle and Daemin Don Dero and Jared Elliott; and nieces and nephews, Keith Reno, Connie Thompson, Douglas and Calvin Morrison, Cheryl Ann Hachquet, Valerie Bideganeta, Cole Smith and Robin Shaw.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husbands, Tom Helderman, Frank Simmons and Dale Baumgardner; daughter, Debra Lee; grandson, Jacob Helderman; parents, Charles & Della Reno; brothers, Kenneth and Clinton Reno; sister, Darlene Reno; niece, Charlotte Warren; and nephew, Clark Reno.
Lorraine was known for her kindness and understanding ways and her love for her family and friends. We love you and thank you for everything you did for all of us. You will be greatly missed.
