Lorraine May (Hale) Unzicker, 92, of Peru, passed away July 31, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Mrs. Unzicker was born on October 7, 1921 in Oglesby to Leonard and Emily (Hancock) Hale. She married Otto Herman Unzicker on December 19, 1943 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru She graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1939. She worked at Westclox in Peru from 1939-1948. Later she worked as secretary for Peru Public Schools from 1966-1983 serving at Washington and Northview School. She was a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peru. She taught Sunday school, and Bible School. She was a member of Ruth Circle, WELCA, Altar Guild, the Sewing Group, the Owls, YMCA in Peru and served as church secretary for several years. She was devoted to her family, as her life revolved around her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved watching her family flourish.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Baker-Skaggs (Dick) of Seymour, IL, Judith (Jim) Anderson of Peru, and Laura (Steve) Martin of Pineville, NC; 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; one sister in-law, June Hale of Brooksville, FL. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Herman Unzicker on September 5, 2006; three brothers; and one sister.
