Lorraine Henrietta Johnson, 87, was born on February 26, 1925 in Nichols Township in St. Louis County, MN to Alfred and Ellen Johnson.  She passed away peacefully on June 7, 2012 at the home of her son in Laporte, MN

Lorraine attended the Leech Lake School and Walker Elementary.  She worked for various employers in the Walker area before moving to Minneapolis, MN.  She worked for many years for Frank and Hazel Groves, just as a caregiver to their daughter and as a housekeeper for the family.

In the mid 1970’s, Lorraine met John Maloney at the Nankin Cafe in downtown Minneapolis.  A romance blossomed and Lorraine and John spent many years together until John’s passing in March of 2010.  Lorraine then moved to Laporte.

Lorraine enjoyed Casino Trips, going fishing with John, dancing and watching T.V.  Some of her favorite shows were the Lawrence Welk reruns, the “Soap Opera” One Life to Live and The Price is Right.

Lorraine always looked forward to the Annual Johnson Family Party held around the 4th of July at her brother John’s house.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister; Gladys Fashing, two brothers; Norman and Vernon Johnson and her significant other and friend John Maloney.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her son Stephen (Audrey) Johnson of Laporte; brothers and sisters; Dick (Iona) Johnson of St. Francis, Jenney (Lowell) Sandwick of Coon Rapids, Ellen (Conrad) Halverson of Laporte and John (Kay) Johnson of Walker; sister-in-law Rita Johnson of Chino, CA; 3 grandchildren; Tom (Nicki) Johnson of Circle Pines, Heidi (Mark) Schmidt of Laporte and Craig Johnson of Laporte, 5 great grandchildren; Kaylie and Kelsey Johnson, Chase and Skyla Johnson and Jaelynn Schmidt, and numerous nieces and nephews and many other friends and relatives.

Lunch will be served immediately following the service at the church.
