Mrs. Delhay passed away peacefully on Friday, August 17, 2018 in Temple, Texas.

Lorraine (Petersen) Delhay was born October 17, 1918 in Cordova, Nebraska the daughter of Martin and Emma (Johnson) Petersen. Lorraine was the youngest sibling to Alvin and Lydia. Lorraine graduated from Exeter High School in Exeter, Nebraska in 1936.

She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.  Lorraine’s dad coached her and Lydia’s softball team which created a lifetime love of baseball. She later met the love of her life, Fred Delhay. They married February 14, 1942. The couple had three children, Larry, Marlene and Melody. Fred and Lorraine were married for almost 60 years when Fred passed away. Lorraine then moved to Texas the following year.

Lorraine was a true joy to her family and friends. She had a quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. She loved playing bingo, Yahtzee and was quite the card shark at poker games. Lorraine also quilted, crocheted blankets, made calendars and was a wonderful cook. She loved going to baseball games, plays and family gatherings.  Mrs. Delhay also had a wonderful community of friends at the Temple Meridian Assisted Living community where she resided the last five years of her life. Her spirit will be sorely missed by her friends and family.

At age 99, Mrs. Delhay was preceded in death by so many she loved dearly including her parents, husband, siblings Alvin and his wife Alverta, Lydia and her husband Floyd, daughter-in-law Gail Delhay, son-in-law Tom Newman and many more.

Survivors include a son, Larry Delhay; two daughters, Melody Matoza and husband Norman, and Marlene Newman; three grandchildren Laura DelleDonne and husband Samual DelleDonne Sr, Jason Delhay, Shadd Newman, and two great grandsons Logan Moore and Samual DelleDonne Jr, two great granddaughters Amber Moore and Patricia DelleDonne and many other beloved family members.
