Lorraine D. Bongiovanni, 81, died at 10:40 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014 at the Hospice House in Poland. She was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the late William and Delphine (Kutzer) Wolsko. She was last employed in the accounting department at the Good Samaritan Hospital of San Jose, Calif., and also at the Kaiser Permante Hospital of Panorama City, Calif. She moved to Salem in November of 1996 and worked as a cashier at Giant Eagle Grocery Store. Lorraine was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharist Minister. She was a member of the Loyal Christian Benefit Association. She was a volunteer for the Banquet of Salem. She is survived by her husband, Placido (Tom) Bongiovanni, who she married on Aug. 29, 1975. She is also survived by two daughters, Pastor Amanda (Aimee) (Pastor Lou) Raymond of Salem and Susan (Ray Collins) Swanson of Alsip, Ill.; one son, Michael (Barbara) Metzger of El Paso, Texas; one sister, Barbara Worman of Chicago, Ill.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alan Wolsko.
