Loring Wheeler Stanhope, age 72, of Miramar Beach, FL, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, surrounded by his family. Loring was born in Detroit, MI, to the late Loring Edgar Stanhope and the late Irene Marie Young Stanhope. He was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Marie Buentello.  Loring is survived by his step-father, Theodore Gladwell, of Navarre, and his nephew, David “Beau” Buentello, of Navarre.

Loring is also survived by his loving wife, Lisa Stanhope, and his step-daughters, Kristin Gal, of Bluewater Bay, and Stephanie Hess (Adam), of Savannah, GA, and grandchildren, Jordan and Haley Hess.

Loring’s career started at US Steel in California where he worked for 16 years. He continued on as a machinery repair technician at Rockwell International; ultimately merging with The Boeing Company and working as facility engineer. After moving his facility to FWB, he retired after 25 years in the Aerospace Industry.  After retiring, he continued to stay active by designing and selling office furniture at Desko.

Another great passion of his was The Fort Walton Beach Community Chorus.  He loved singing, being a board member and section leader, and designing scenery and sets.

Other hobbies that he thoroughly enjoyed were fly fishing (including tying his own flies) and photography.  He was always thrilled when he was able to capture nature or photograph a friend’s wedding.  All in all, he was a very loving husband and father, faithful leader, and friend to everyone he met. He will be truly missed for he was one in a million.
