Loretta Wheeler was born Loretta Pearl Scarborough on July 22, 1934. She was the only girl of four children to parents, Omar and Juanita Scarborough. Loretta was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and after a valiant effort, she decided it was time to go home. Loretta passed very quietly and peacefully at home on July 19, 2015. Loretta was a life long resident of Taft. Graduating from Taft Union High School in 1952, she proudly stayed on the Reunion Committee, helping to ensure all would stay in contact. She met the love of her life, Ed Wheeler, in 1956. After only dating for four weeks, they were married on April 7, 1956. They continued their life together and both retired in 1990. Those years were filled with great joy for them. They were the epitome of what retirement should be. They bought their motorhome and they were off! They traveled with family and friends for the next two decades. Loretta was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; son, Dennis, her parents; and all three of her brothers, Clyde, Lynford and Omar. She is survived by their two daughters, Marsha (Otis) Edwards and Gail (Benny) Edwards. Although she has passed, her extensive family and numerous friends rejoice in her memory and are ever so grateful to have had their lives blessed by sweet Loretta Pearl. She was a loving and dedicated Mother, Grandma (Great and Great-great), Aunt, Cousin and friend to all who knew her. She was funny, quite precise and very organized, loved with her whole heart, timekeeper of all life events and teller of family tales. She will be dearly missed by all.
