Loretta O’Neil Norwich – Loretta (Berube) O’Neil, 88, born to Hosanna and Emma Jean Berube on October 19, 1923, at Manchester, New Hampshire, passed away at Norwichtown Rehabilitation and Care Center on Tuesday, June 26, 2012. Loretta spent her early years in Willimantic, Connecticut, and after marrying Daniel J. O’Neil, on June 29, 1946, she made her home in Norwich, Connecticut, where together they raised their three (3) children. Loretta’s beloved husband, Daniel J. O’Neil, preceded her in death on November 24, 1981. Loretta at age 63 retired from the John Meyer Company where she had made many good friends. She loved the beach, and in her retirement she was able to spend more time there with her “beach buddies.” She continued to enjoy many dances and concerts with her dear friend, Joseph Pedace and her family. Loretta, and avid dancer, was known to her friends as “the dancer”. Loretta enjoyed her travels, including Hawaii, Germany and Italy, and trips to Disney World with her grandchildren. She was a master at Jumble word problems and enjoyed challenging her family to the task, at which she generally prevailed. Loretta was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She was very involved in her grandchildren’s lives and enjoyed sharing many outings and activities with them, including many musical concerts and dances. She was a devoted supporter of the New London County 4-H Camp in Franklin, Connecticut, to which she happily sent all of her grandchildren every summer. Loretta had a true joie de vivre; she lived life fully and her positive attitude was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her brother, Roger J. Berube, and her sisters, Doris Chalifoux and Therese Gambino. She is survived by a brother, Raymond J. Berube, of Port St. Lucie, Florida, and her three children, Pamela J. O’Neil of Hamden, Connecticut, Attorney Nancy M. O’Neil, (Attorney Donald R. Beebe), of Norwich, Connecticut and Timothy D. O’Neil, (Janel S. O’Neil), of Norwich, Connecticut. She is also survived by her, four grandchildren, Attorney Daniel A. Beebe, Lydia F. Beebe, Loren M. O’Neil, and Meghan E. O’Neil, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
