Entered into rest, Oct. 19, 2015, Loretta Scavone Cappetta , 94, formerly of North Haven;wife of the late Peter Cappetta; mother of Peter (Patricia) Cappetta, III and Charles (Lisa) Cappetta; sister of Daniel Scavone and the late Rita DellaVolpe; grandmother of Peter, IV, Jessica & Ali Cappetta and Stephanie(Jesse)Herzog; also survived by 3 great grandchildren; born Feb. 26, 1921, daughter of the late Charles and Josephine Onofrio Scavone.
Though our Mom worked outside the home helping her husband Peter, at the Eagle Market in New Haven, a family business. She also enjoyed her work at The Diagnostic Medical Laboratory in Branford. Clearly, her most distinguishing role was “Caregiver” to her entire family.
She treated uncles like fathers, aunts like mothers and her nieces and nephews like her daughters and sons. She embraced Lisa and Patty as her own and was grateful for the love and help they gave to her. She loved being a grandmother and was a devoted daughter and loving sister to Rita and Danny as well.
She used her talents in cooking and baking to help create the most joyous holidays and countless Sunday dinners. There was always room at her table for everyone that was within a voice away. Frankly, it was virtually impossible for anyone to get in and out of her house without sitting down and eating something. She treated everyone like they were precious stones, all brilliant in their own way, and no one was more valuable than the other.
So the Good Lord has summoned her back after gracing all of us for 94 years with her life. I think His intention is that a little bit of Loretta Cappetta will continue to live in us. A little kindness, a little forgiveness and a little compassion for all. We’ll miss you, Mom…..
