Lorenia Iona Glasscock, 92, of Elkhart, passed away Thursday evening, April 23, 2013, at Elkhart General Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 11, 1920, in Caddo, Texas, to the late John Thomas and Malinda (Lowe) Starkey. She married Kenneth Floyd in 1939. He passed away in 1950. She married Clark Glasscock in 1956, and he died in 1985.
Surviving are her children, Kenneth J. Floyd, Barry Floyd and his wife Nancy, Beverly Curtis and husband Stan, John D. Starkey and Cindy, Russell Glasscock and wife Shirley and Thomas Glasscock, all of Elkhart; 28 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
A son, Gary Floyd; daughter Charlotte Purdy; and brother Chester Starkey preceded her in death.
Lorenia was a homemaker and a longtime member of Jimtown Family Nazarene Church. She volunteered with Harvest Basket, by collecting clothes and household items, cleaning, and then returning for distribution to needy families. She enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning in her spare time.
