Lorene Wayne Smith, 89 passed away on July 5, 2022 at the Brenden House in Kalispell. Lorene was born on July 12, 1932 to Charles Cleo Smith and Frona Elizabeth Smith (Marcum), one of seven children in Rock Creek, Iowa.
Rene was and is a free spirit whom lived in many states and was not afraid of an adventure. When she was born she fit in a shoe box and Aunt Marie and grandma would set her by the stove to keep her warm.
She was not afraid of an adventure and fear never stopped her. When she was little she would rock grandma’s rocking chair across the room imagining faraway places. She loved walking in the mountains, playing her guitar.
Her brother Lyle taught her some guitar cords. She was self-taught, loved music and had a wonderful voice. Someone gave her a lot of money once to sing Bobbie Magee.
Renemom put herself through college in her 40’s, tutored accounting to help with money as she was alone with three children at home. She obtained two degrees, one in accounting and the second in paralegal. Later she went back to school to get her doctorate in Holistic theology.
Rene is preceded in death by her parents, sister Eula Burris, Marie Carter, Delores Dale, Little Neville Smith, and Brother Harold Smith.
She is survived by her brother Lyle Smith, her children Mike Grimm, Mark Grimm, Monica Castaneda, Elaine Wilcox, Vianna Stibal, Richard Babineaux; 14 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren.
