Lorena J. (Rapisarda) Carlone, 48, of Newington, beloved daughter of Giuseppe and Rosa Rapisarda, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 21, 2014, with her family by her side. She was a loving mother to Alessandra and Nicholas Carlone, both of Newington. Born in New Britain, she graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School and from Central CT State University with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology. She was employed for over 25 years by the CT Dept. of Labor, most recently serving as a Program and Services Coordinator in the Hartford Adjudications Office. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Newington. Lorena loved spending time with her family and friends and hosted the annual Christmas Eve dinner. All who knew her loved her; her smile lit up a room; her laughter contagious. Her pumpkin rolls, Christmas cookie trays, Oreo balls and infamous flourless peanut butter chocolate chip cookies (that no one could make), will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents and children, she leaves her loving brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Lynne Rapisarda, her sister and brother-in-law, Katia and Peter Bocompani, her former husband Joseph Carlone and his wife Lisa, and her former in-laws, Domenick and Mary Carlone. A loving aunt, she leaves her nieces and nephews, Joseph and Olivia Rapisarda, and Peter and Sofia Bocompani, and her devoted dog Onyx. She also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins here and in Italy, and many cherished friends, most of whom she has known since childhood. She was pre-deceased by her nephew Sebastian Rapisarda, and her dog Ashley. Her family would like to thank the Emergency Room staff at Hartford Hospital for their tireless efforts to save our beloved Lorena. She was loved, and we are heartbroken.
