Loren Robert Spice, 83, of Great Falls, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2015 surrounded by his loving family, at Peace Hospice. He was born at home in River Styx, Ohio on May 16, 1932 to Gladys and Vernon Spice. He served his country in the US Navy Reserves. In 1950 he married Mary Margaret Darling, and together they raised six children. They divorced in 1974.
Loren was a master craftsman who spent his life building and rehabilitating houses. He passed this interest and knowledge down to his children and grandchildren. He spent time living in Naples, Florida, finally settling in Great Falls, Montana to be near several of his children.
With the help of many dear friends, especially Daniel Marcum of Wadsworth, Ohio, Loren restored and rebuilt his beloved 1939 Chevy Sedan. He made the car an everyday driver, and received plenty of attention wherever he went! He drove the car across the country several times, from Ohio to Florida and on to Montana.
Loren is survived by his children: Karen Everhart (Randy Turner) of Great Falls, MT, Gail Knotts of Crestview, FL, Bob (Vickie) Spice of Naples, FL, Mary Geer of Great Falls, MT, Amy (Carlos) Fernandez of Great Falls, MT, Valerie (Ray) Reade of Pinellas Park, FL; eleven grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; his sister Carol Calkins of Bellevue, OH; brother Neil Spice of Wadsworth, OH.
Loren was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Margaret; sister, Lynn Gray; sister-in-law, Cathy Spice; grandson, Shamus Miller.
