Loren L. Luecht, 93, of Elkhart, passed away Monday, Feb. 29, at Hubbard Hill Estates in Elkhart.

He was born Aug. 31, 1922, in Michigan City, to Alfred C. and Margaret (Fendt) Luecht.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years Barbara Luecht of Elkhart; one daughter, Laura (Richard) Baumer of Dayton, Ohio; one son, Bill (Patricia) Luecht of Danville; three grandchildren, Nathan Baumer of Dayton, Ohio, Katherine Luecht of West Lafayette, and John Luecht of Danville.

Loren proudly served in the U.S. Army as a medical laboratory technician in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater from August 1943 until his honorable discharge in March 1946.

He graduated with a BS in chemistry in 1951 from Capital University, Columbus, Ohio.

He was later employed with C.G. Conn Ltd. as a metallurgical chemist for many years and later worked as a chemist for the city of Elkhart until his retirement in 1992 at age 70.

Loren was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the American Electroplaters & Surface Finishers Society, American Legion and was a Scoutmaster, treasurer and troop committeeman with Boy Scout Troup 10 in Elkhart for many years. He was an avid golfer and reader and enjoyed traveling and camping.
