Loren Adcock September 28, 1941 ~ July 25, 2012 Born September 28th 1941 to Roy and Lillian Adcock in Durango, CO, our beloved friend, brother, grandfather, father and loving husband was called home to God on July, 25th 2012. Growing up, Loren worked on a dairy farm and learned about building and construction. He graduated from Durango High School in 1959 and kept in touch with many friends throughout the years and looked forward to the class reunions. Loren joined the United States Air Force in September of 1959 and served until April 1964. He was a Crew Chief and mechanic on F100, F102 and F105 aircrafts. He was stationed throughout the world in Amarillo, Panama City, North Carolina and Okinawa. Upon returning home to Colorado, he met the “best catch of his life” Katherine (Kay) Largent. He and Kay were married in October 1964, before they moved to San Bruno, California, where he started working for United Airlines. He graduated from The College of San Mateo with an AA with FAA Certification and later taught at Jetma Technical and United Airlines. He and Kay moved from San Bruno to Pacifica in 1970 where they lived until 1997. Loren was active in many of the groups in Pacifica. He volunteered as a coach for his sons AYSO soccer teams, was active in little league sports, and a scout leader with the Boy Scouts and YMCA Indian Guides. The many friendships he made there were greatly cherished over the years, well after he had retired. After he retired from United Airlines in 1997, Loren and Kay moved to Canon City, Colorado where he remained active at the Golden Age Center and did volunteer taxes. His love of travel took him and Kay on Cruises, trips to Australia and New Zealand, family vacations and camping trips across the country to Marco Island in Florida, up and down both coasts, the Hawaiian Islands, Idaho, California and many other road trips. His passion for fishing took him on a yearly fishing trip to many parts of Alaska including bi-yearly trips to Yakatat where he was always with a close group of longtime friends and taught us all how to catch more fish. Aside from fishing, he loved building things, woodworking and had a very bountiful garden. Loren never met a child that he didn’t like. He had a fatherly demeanor that he shared with all. Many knew him as uncle or grandpa Loren. Loren had an unmatched zest for life. He was a man known for and will be remembered for his great character, integrity and a true definition of a friend, his passion for his family and great sense of humor. He will be missed by all who ever knew or met him. He is survived by his loving wife Kay; sons Philip (Jodi) Adcock and Roger Adcock; granddaughter, Amanda Adcock; brothers Art and Clayton Adcock; and sisters Sharon Mason and Thelma Bertrand. He is preceded in death by his parents Roy and Lillian Adcock; and his brother Dick Adcock.
