Lona (Kratz) Jakse, 86, of Peru passed away at 4:30 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2010, at St. Margarets Hospital in Spring Valley. Mrs. Jakse was born May 24, 1924 in Peru, a daughter of Peter and Apollonia (Schmitt) Kratz. She married Ernest F. Jakse, on October 15, 1949, at St. Joseph Church in Peru.
He died January 22, 1991. Survivors include six daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Stegmann of Hinsdale, Jane (Dean) Sack of Peru, Julie (Joseph) Sullivan of Wilmette, Jeanne Bertrand of Peru, Jill (Thomas) Dentino of Metamora and Jennifer (Robert) Johnson of Sarasota, FL; three sons, Frank (Elizabeth) Jakse of Dardenne Prairie, MO, Paul (Peggy) Jakse of Bellevue, WA and James (Lynn) Jakse of LaSalle; 25 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two sisters, Inez Clinch of Peru and Jeanne Kratz of Peru.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, one sister, Bernice Kratz and two brothers, J. Quinton Bud Kratz and Myron Kratz. Faith, family and friends were Lonas life. Lonas goal in life was to have a large family. She was proud to have accomplished that. Holidays and gatherings surrounded by her family were what she enjoyed most. The babies brought her the greatest joy. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends. She will be dearly missed. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Stephen Jakse, Justin Dentino, Michael Jakse, Kyle Dentino, Teague Dentino, Adam Bertrand, Michael and Patrick Sullivan.
