Mr. Marotz died Saturday, October 4, 2014 of injuries he suffered in a tree-trimming accident in rural Plattsmouth.
Lon was born March 8, 1938, in Norfolk the son of Lyle A. and Marcella (Wollschlager) Marotz. He was baptized on April 10, 1938 and confirmed on May 6, 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hoskins. He graduated from Norfolk High School and then served in the U.S. Air Force. Lon married Phyllis J. Wachter on April 4, 1964 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hadar.
Lon was a fire fighter for the Norfolk Fire Department for 9 ½ years until 1976 when he went to work for the Iowa Limestone Company as a salesman for 27 years retiring in 2003.
Lon is survived by his children, Laura Marotz of Plattsmouth, Paulet and her husband Tim Voigt of Slinger, WI, and Adam and his wife Mary Jayne Marotz of Norfolk, five grandchildren, Mikayla Voigt, Matthew Voigt, Brooke Voigt, Alyssa Marotz, and Katelyn Marotz, two brothers, Lane and his wife Rogene Marotz of Hoskins, and Dr. Loy Marotz of Gretna, one sister Lyla and her husband Verne Fuhrman of Norfolk.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Phyllis in 2006.
