Lola Sommers, 75, of Centralia, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia.
Lola was born October 13, 1943 in Murphysboro, daughter of James Needham and Goldie (McConell) Needham. She married Wilbur “Wil” Sommers on June 18, 1988 and he survives in Centralia.
In addition to her husband of 30 years, Wilbur “Wil” Sommers of Centralia, she is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Norman Faulkner and wife Cathy of Centralia, Glen Faulkner of Centralia, David Faulkner of Centralia, Lori Buehler and husband Mitch of Centralia, and Christy Wooters of Centralia; 13 great nieces and nephews; 15 great-great nieces and nephews; four sisters-in-law: Freda Bowman of Kokomo, Indiana, Judy Sommers of Goshen, Indiana, Irene Zering of Kokomo, Indiana, and Mary Cardans and husband Chuck of Kokomo, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother: Johnny Needham, a sister: Barbara Sloat, a niece: Sherry Jarmin, and a very special friend: Chris Laughbaum.
Lola worked as a Registered Nurse and Teacher for many years. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Centralia. She enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking, and coloring in Stress reliever adult coloring books. Lola loved spending time with her husband, her dogs, family and friends.
