Lola J. Cook, 84, of Westphalia, MO and formerly of Jacksonville and Chandlerville, IL passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016, at Westphalia Hills in Westphalia, MO.

She was born August 26, 1931 in Fandon, IL, the daughter of Alva Finis and Velma Frances Hocker Griffith. She married James A. Cook Sr. on May 4, 1952 at South Fork Christian Church in rural Springfield, IL and he preceded her in death on January 4, 2012.

She is survived by three children, Timothy Owen Cook (wife, Deborah) of Rolla, MO, J. Allan Cook Jr.(wife, Jane) of South Jacksonville, and Abby Jo Vinyard (fiancé, Ron Luebbert) of Westphalia, MO; six grandchildren, Mary Allana Vinyard of Columbia, MO, Heather Cook and Misty Dawn Rowe (husband, Richard IV), all of Jacksonville, Justin Cook (wife, Jana) of Rolla, MO, Audrey Bailey (husband, Toby) of Columbia, MO, and Amber Wilson (husband, Jerid) of Dry Ridge, KY; 15 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; her beloved sister, Ella Louise Parkins of rural Macomb; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Lola was employed by GTE Telephone Company as an operator, supervisor, and trainer in Jacksonville, Macomb, and Lincoln, IL. She was an accomplished organist who assisted her husband in his many ministries and volunteered her time more recently as the organist for services at the Passavant Hospital Chapel.

A talented painter, Lola provided hand painted scenes for many church baptistries. She also enjoyed many art forms including interior decorating and ceramics, which she fired in her own kiln. An avid reader, Lola enjoyed adding to her book collection and, as a life-long Chicago Cubs fan, collecting Cubs memorabilia.
