January 17, 1938 – December 23, 2017
Lola Faye Paine, 79, of Boerne, Texas passed away on December 23, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Lola was born on January 17, 1938 in Junction, Texas; she was one of seven children born to Walter and Ethel Leamons.
She graduated Valedictorian from Junction High School in 1955. She was a lifelong learner with a master’s degree in education from University of Texas El Paso. She taught and retired from the Ysleta Independent School District in El Paso, Texas. Lola met the love of her life, Henry Paine, while they were employed at Parkland High School in El Paso. They married on August 18, 1982. They were inseparable and absolutely adored each other’s company. They traveled many places and enjoyed many exciting adventures throughout their long and happy marriage. They played dominos and drank iced tea each evening after dinner while laughing, reminiscing, and talking politics. After retiring in 1993, Lola and Henry moved to Kerrville, Texas. They were active members of the First Christian Church. Lola was a deaconess, often contributed to the worship service, and helped with the church bizarre. She was also a member of Toast Master’s for many years and for a time was the president. Lola and Henry moved to Boerne in 2001. She volunteered several days a week with the tutoring program at Curington Elementary School. She was also a member of the Kendall County Republican Women’s group.
Lola loved gardening, shopping, and crafting. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She always had a smile on her face, a helping hand to lend, and words of encouragement for anyone who needed them. She was a smart, kind hearted, loving woman. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. After battling dementia for many years, her family finds comfort knowing that she is free from her illness.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Ray Leamons and John Leamons; Sister Mae Leamons; and daughter Janet Agan Steward. She is survived by husband, Henry Paine; children, Jim Turner (and wife Magdi Turner), and Linda Burns (and husband Bob Burns); grandchildren, Kristina Dinscore, Kalvin Turner, Kellie Burns, Jenna Lester, Rachel Turner, Rusty Burns, Robby Turner, Ricky Burns, Troy Turner, and Linda Steward; five great grandchildren; brother Walter Leamons Jr. (and wife Stella); sisters, Mary Borskey, and Patsy Rendon (and husband Clifton); numerous nieces and nephews; and amazing caregivers Jamie and Samantha.
A very special thank you to Lola’s granddaughter, Kristina Dinscore, and her husband, Nathan Dinscore, for the one of a kind, tender, and loving care that they provided through the very difficult years that she suffered with dementia.
