Following a brief illness, Lola Deanne “Dee” Hughes of Daleville passed away Thursday May 27, 2021, at the family residence surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Dee Hughes was born May 2, 1970 in Enterprise, to the late Gene Hughes and Patricia Freeman Hughes. In 1988, she graduated Valedictorian of Daleville High School. In 1993, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and Business Administration. In 1996, she received a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School passing the bar in both New York and Alabama. Shortly after law school, she returned home and began a career with Daleville Real Estate as realtor and then broker.
Dee loved her life and the family and friends with whom she shared it. She lived for the beach, boating to Shell Island, and ‘Bama football—and her infectious laugh was immediately recognizable to everyone she knew. Dee also enjoyed reading, traveling, fine dining, and competing and winning in the weekly Daleville Sun-Courier Pigskin Picks.
Dee is survived by her mother, Patricia Hughes, sister Leigh Britton (Jody), companion Bob Anderson, niece and nephew, Abigail and Abe Britton, aunts and uncles, Sandra Spivey, Sandy Kuppersmith (Raymond), Ethel Gilbert, Louise Hughes, Mary Sue Hughes, Tommy Freeman (Patricia), David Freeman (Susan), Bill Freeman (Pat) numerous cousins and fur babies Mork, Mindy, Virgie and Annie.
