Lois McGill, age 70, of Atlanta, Georgia was called home by her Heavenly Father on May 26, 2021, surrounded by her family. Lois Marie King was born on August 7th, 1950 in Opelousas, Lousiana, the fourth daughter of Willie King and Ruby Linton, and was raised in Lake Charles where she attended WO Boston, Class of ’68. Lois traveled the world, faithfully serving her country for 20 years with the United States Navy, serving under four presidential administrations. Her interests included cooking real authentic Lousiana dishes like gumbo, boudin, and seafood where she published her award-winning recipes; and pursuing her primary passion of music; performing with various ensembles including the US Navy Blue Notes, and embarking on her solo career as a singer-songwriter and recording artist. Upon retirement, she enjoyed volunteer work, helping people living with disabilities, and quiet time at home watching wildlife. Lois is survived by her daughter, Harmony McGill, her sisters, Cherry Steinwender, Cynthia Ogoe, Lesha Vernon, and brother Willie Don King. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Geneva King, Willie Ruth Ingram, and Carol King. Her legacy lives on through the love of many nieces and nephews.
