Lois May Wilkinson Keenan of Boerne, Texas, passed away at the age of 96 on Wednesday, May 5, 2021. Born in her parents’ bedroom on Good Friday, April 10, 1925, the youngest child of Gwendolyn Marie Devoll and James Salmon Wilkinson, M.D. Lois grew up with her two older brothers Jim and George in their home in Germantown above their fathers 24-hour/day medical practice. The great-granddaughter of Sarah W. Howland Devoll, M.D., a graduate of The New England Female Medical College in 1872, a pioneer for women’s rights who made the path easier for women of later generations to practice medicine. The great-granddaughter of Zebedee Augustus Devoll, Captain of the whaling ship “Lagoda” who sailed the globe during the mid-1800’s and whose ship is currently on display in the New Bedford, Massachusetts Whaling Museum.

Predeceased by her brothers James and George and her husband of thirty-nine years, James V. Keenan, she is survived by her five children, Lois M. Keenan, Esq., James V. Keenan, D.D.S., Steven J. Keenan, M.S., John K. Keenan, J.D., Lynn M. Keenan, M.D. Lois was also grandmother to eight and great-grandmother to five.
