Lois Marie Yurgalewicz Kuszaj, of Portage, Michigan, passed away on Monday, March 16th, 2020 at the age of 65. She was born in Torrington, CT on October 29th, 1954 to the late Adolph and Frances Yurgalewicz.
She spent her childhood playing softball with her father and spending warm summer days on the water at Tyler Lake. Lois graduated from Northwestern Connecticut Community College with an associates degree, and began working as an insurance underwriter. Her work took her all over the country, but she found love right at home. Lois and Joe married on February 1, 1992, and two years later welcomed their daughter, Katherine.
Lois was a woman of many loves- crossword puzzles, crime shows, reading, music, the ocean, softball (which she played for over 30 years)- but most of all, her family. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for those she loved, and no one had a bigger heart than Lois. She had her own special flair for life and lived passionately, leaving an indelible mark on all of those she met.
Lois is survived by her husband, Joseph Kuszaj; daughter, Katherine (Kuszaj) Milbauer; son-in-law Jacob Milbauer; sisters Frances Penn and Janet Whittaker, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph “Poppi” Yurgalewicz and Frances “Nana” Juhas Yurgalewcz.
