Lois M. Shafer, (nee: Vogt), 70, of St. Jacob, Ill., born October 22, 1935 in Collinsville, Ill., died November 30, 2005 at Belleville Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Shafer is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lois (nee:Paul) Vogt, and a brother, A.J. Vogt.
Mrs. Shafer retired as a Corporate Pilot for L.Pohlman Co. in St. Louis, MO. She was also Co-Owner of Metro East Air Port. Mrs. Shafer lived in the Collinsville, Troy, St. Jacob area most of her life. She was an extremely active woman. She loved piloting corporate planes as well as her own personal plane.
Mrs. Shafer was very active in many sports, softball, golf, and her very most love, Tennis, where she succumbed to a heart attack on the tennis court.
Mrs. Shafer is survived by her husband, Edward Shafer of St. Jacob, IL, whom she married on October 22, 1952, 2 sons, Mark Shafer of Caseyville, Ill., Michael (Netta) Shafer of St. Jacob, Ill., 2 daughters, Melinda Purcell of Arlington, TX, Melissa Shafer of Johnson City, TN, 2 brothers, Dale (Jackie) Vogt of Columbia, Mo, Paul (Joan) Vogt of Ackley, IA, 1 sister, Jane (Ralph “Bud”) Pratt of Columbia, MO, 8 grandchildren, Sarah, Chris, Shannon, Shane, Autumn, Jeremy, Jessica, and Holland and 4 great-grandchildren.
