Lois M. Petsch

Lois M. Petsch, 89, former nurse and devoted horsewoman, passed away in her Highlands Ranch home on January 28, 2021 after bravely battling cancer. She was surrounded by family and her beloved guardian dog Lil’ Bit.

Lois was the eldest of  two children of Chester and Dorothy, born on October 3, 1931. She was a cherished daughter and adored sister to her brother Chet Jr. After graduating from South High School, she chose to start a life with her dearest husband Harold Petsch Jr. (HEP). Their love eventually led to Lois becoming a mother to their three children, Mike (Genelle), Robin (Tom), and Steve. In addition to motherhood, Lois accomplished her goal of becoming a nurse.

Following her retirement from nursing, and raising horses, Lois moved to Wind Crest where she was blessed with the company of her newfound friends, and enjoyed all the activities that came with it. Lois always loved to sew and was an exceptional seamstress. Her creations include an abundance of quilts, prom dresses and outfits for friends, family, and charities. Lois was an admirer of the mountains, nature, and being outdoors. She also loved the adventure of traveling.

Lois was a proud grandma, or Grandmama to eight grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. She took the role as Grandmama to all children her friends and family brought into her life. She loved every piece of art she was given by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren so much that she made a picture book of the collections for each child. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, two brother-in-laws, a niece and a nephew. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister-in-laws, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, and plenty of good friends.

The family requests that any remembrance for Lois be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research, Shriners Hospital for Children, Craig Hospital Foundation or Wounded Warriors.
