Lois LaVonne Adams of Parchment MI, died peacefully Saturday, September 23rd, at Rose Arbor Hospice Center. She was surrounded by family and loved ones during her brief stay at Rose Arbor. She had recently resided at the Gardens Memory Wing of the Fountains where she received great care and love by all of the caregivers and staff.
She was born on June 8th, 1929 to the late Clayton and Gladys (Porter) Kelley. One of three daughters, Marianne and Natalie Truby, both preceding her in death. Lois was united in marriage to Carl D. Adams on August 5, 1950. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Carl who passed away on December 26, 2002.
Lois and Carl met during her brief employment at the Kalamazoo Police Department. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, while Carl was deployed as an MP at the Air Force Academy. Upon their return to Kalamazoo, Lois was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her passion for family, gardening and cooking were realized by all that ever visited her and her gardens. She was an active and proud member of the Garden Club and Art League for many years.
In addition she was also a loyal member of Parchment United Methodist Church and a faithful participant in a wide variety of church activities including bake sales, rummage sales and creating alter floral arrangements to name just a few. The family cottage on Cedar Lake was one of her favorite spots to vacation and spend time with her family and friends.
Later in life Carl and Lois spent time at their Florida condo which was enjoyed by all. Lois is survived by her children Terri (Michael) Lupo, David (Penne) Adams, Dan Adams and Michelle (Kirk) Strehlow; 7 grandchildren Becky Adams, Jennifer VanEyk, Joshua (Jamie) Tuin, Chelsea & Tyler Adams, Melena & Shelby Strehlow; and 5 great grandchildren Carter & Carley Tuin, Jacob Markwell, Joshuah Adams and Kinsley Carter.
